The smart watch of the South Korean company was another of the secret voices of this firm, and we finally have it with us.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear has arrived to (try to) stay in a segment that is very fashionable and we will see if it ends up setting.
Of course, Samsung has done its part to make this happen.Despite not having that futuristic curved design initially mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy Gear has enough features to be able to become a very attractive companion for the intensive users of smartphones.
Elegance and minimalism
We probably all wanted to enjoy that curved screen that was aimed at some preliminary images of concepts that could follow Samsung, but finally the signature has been limited to offer a flat screenthat, yes, integrates perfectly into a design standout.
Elegance and simplicity are especially noticeable in the clock interface, based on Android, of course. Although we are obviously talking about a digital watch-and therefore, little comparable to what suggests to watch lovers a classic model-Samsung combines very well the elements available.
The colorful plastic bracelet (in six colors) does not disappoint at all, and although the shape of the device is not surprising, of course-it’s a clock, after all-but what it is are its performance.
The weight of this equipment is 73.8 grams, finished in aluminum and a thickness of 11.1 mm.
Samsung Galaxy Gear, technical features
The miniaturization of technology has allowed us to have a unique set of specifications in this smart watch. Specifications that not long ago seemed more typical of a mid-range smartphone.
For example, we have a whole 800 MHz processor, a solution that seems exaggerated not to check all the features that this unique device can offer. We have a non-interchangeable 315 mAh battery, which according to Samsung is able to withstand a whole day of activity. It is not much and will be one of the most controversial aspects.
We also have two integrated microphones (noise canceling), a speakerphone, Bluetooth 4.0, an accelerometer, gyroscope, 4 GB of storage capacity and 512 MB of RAM. Of course it can work as hands-free.
The screen of this Samsung Galaxy Gear has a diagonal of 1.63 inches and a resolution of 320×320 pixels . It is a SuperAMOLED and tactile of course, but in addition the interface can be controlled with voice commands . In the bracelet we have a unique and tiny 1.9-megapixel camera capable of capturing low resolution photos and 720p videos.
Price and availability
This Samsung Galaxy Gear does not have a defined price for now, but we will soon know it as it leaves in Europe this same month of September, and the following month in the US and Japan.
